The Palmistry of Fingerprints

“I wanted to personally tell you how intriguing and quietly profound The Palmistry of Fingerprints is. By bringing together the long history of fingerprint analysis with the modern science of dermatoglyphics, you invite readers to look at something deeply familiar their own hands and see it anew. What you offer is not mysticism disguised as science, nor dry technical study, but a thoughtful exploration of individuality, one that bridges forensic history, psychology, and personal meaning with clarity and care.

What stands out most is the way you position fingerprints as both biological fact and narrative map. Your discussion of skin ridge patterns as biometric markers of psychological and genetic significance reframes the hand as a living record one that reflects not destiny, but identity. In grounding this work in a century of dermatoglyphic research, you give readers permission to engage in self-discovery without abandoning intellectual rigor. The idea that our most personal patterns are formed before birth, yet continue to shape how we move through the world, lends the book a philosophical depth that elevates it beyond reference and into reflection.

Equally compelling is the accessibility of your approach. Rather than treating the reader as a passive observer, you invite them into an active dialogue with their own hands, transforming abstract theory into personal insight. This balance between the analytical and the experiential makes the book resonate with readers interested in psychology, human potential, and the science behind individuality. The Palmistry of Fingerprints ultimately suggests that self-knowledge does not require grand revelation; sometimes it begins with paying attention to what has always been in front of us.” (Mary G, by email)

In 1991, I conducted a research project into the significance of the fingerprint and dermatoglyphic patterns and self-published the results of this in booklet form as ‘The Interpretation of Dermatoglyphics’ under the auspices of The Cheirological Society as a study text for my chirology students. In 2024, I re-worked, re-edited and updated this book and I am pleased to announce that it will be published by O Books in the UK in January 2026 !

What others are saying about this book…

“As a professional hand reader of over 30 years, this book is easily the best and most ground-breaking work I’ve ever read. I refer to it constantly as the ‘bible’ of print pattern analysis.”
Johnny Fincham (BA), best-selling author of The Spellbinding Power of Palmistry and Palmistry from apprentice to pro in twenty-four hours

“Christopher’s work on the skin ridges of the palm is a timely and valuable contribution. So much has appeared in journals and on websites and Mr Jones has gathered it all up in a fascinating and comprehensive way. His scholarship of this field is almost overwhelming, but always readable.”
Andrew Fitzherbert (BA) professional palmist and author Hand Psychology and The Palmist’s Companion

“This is a comprehensive and authoritative book on fingerprint patterns by the world’s leading authority on palm reading. It’s essential reading for beginners and experienced palmists alike. Until now, this information that fills a long-needed gap in palmistry has been available only to his students. If you’re remotely interested in palmistry, you must read this book.”
Richard Webster palmist, mentalist and author of The Complete Book of Palmistry

“The Palmistry of Fingerprints is well researched, well written and comprehensive.”
Richard Unger, author of Lifeprints

“This comprehensive book is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in studying the fingerprints of the hand. I know of no other book which brings together such a well-researched history of fingerprint classifications, statistics of dermatoglyphic distribution, tried and tested in-depth chirological interpretations of both fingerprints and palmar patterns, with some rare examples, illustrated with ink prints of each feature. Being privileged to own a copy of the original publication I have found it to be THE most useful and interesting book on the subject, suitable for beginners and experts in the fields of handreading, fingerprints and palmar dermatoglyphics.”
Lynn Seal, professional handreader since 1988
